While employed as an insurance producer, D. created fraudulent insurance applications in the names of his former clients without their knowledge or consent, forging their signatures and altering their personal information to unlawfully obtain over $10,000 in commissions. Madison Man Charged in Deadly Drunk Driving Crash 2025-03-10A 20-year-old Madison man, R. A. B., has been formally charged with first-degree reckless homicide and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after a deadly crash. B. admitted to drinking throughout the day and operating a vehicle while intoxicated before the crash, which occurred at high speeds and resulted in the death of a 67-year-old woman and injury to two children in the other vehicle. B. faces up to 97 years and 6 months imprisonment, 2 years in county jail and up to $129,000 in fines if convicted on all counts. Iowa Senate Approves Sale of State-Owned Wallace Building 2025-03-10The Iowa Senate has passed a bill to grant the Iowa Department of Administrative Services the authority to sell the state-owned Wallace Building and its companion parking structure near the Iowa Capitol. The building has accumulated over $31 million in repair needs, and the sale is expected to fetch around $9 million, with demolition costs of $7 million to be covered by one-time federal funds. The bill passed the Senate on a 33-14 vote, with mostly Republicans supporting and Democrats opposing, and is now eligible for consideration in the Iowa House. |
