Murder Man Convicted of Brutal Murder of Teenage Girl 2025-07-09 A Gowrie man named Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney, 22, was convicted of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the brutal killing of 17-year-old Michele 'Luna' Jackson. DNA evidence and other details showed that Bevers-McGivney premeditated the attack, cutting the victim's throat and stabbing her multiple times before disposing of her body in a trash bin. The judge determined the killing was premeditated, but did not mention a motive. Bevers-McGivney faces a mandatory life sentence without parole. Domestic Disturbance Man Shoots Wife, Then Himself on I-80 2025-07-09 A man from Michigan, David Morse, 56, shot and seriously injured his wife, Tara Morse, 52, while they were traveling on Interstate 80 near Williamsburg. After shooting his wife, David Morse stopped the vehicle, turned the gun on himself, and died at the scene. Tara Morse was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but survived. The Iowa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting, but no additional information, including a reason for the shooting, was available. Standoff Des Moines Man Arrested After Standoff with Police 2025-07-09 A 41-year-old Des Moines man, Tyler Jon Watsabaugh, led police on a car chase, barricaded himself inside his family's home, and threatened officers with a 'makeshift spear'. After a seven-hour standoff, police deployed tear gas and took Watsabaugh into custody. A fire also broke out in the home during the incident, which is being investigated by both police and fire personnel. Watsabaugh is currently being held at the Polk County Jail on charges of Eluding, Interference with Official Acts with a Weapon, and multiple traffic charges. |
