He lived much of his youth in Kansas City, Missouri, where he attended Marillac Catholic School. Mark pursued his dream of riding bareback horses in rodeos, moving back to Nebraska for his last two years of high school. After high school, he attended a Christian college in Texas, then moved back to Kansas City for 20 years before relocating to Des Moines to live with his family.
