ร | The economy shifted to a wartime one where production became supercharged | | | | | War is an unprecedented and unmatched creator of economic stimulus, with production skyrocketing and employment numbers going through the roof. War is great for the economy, make no mistake, but obviously horrific for many other reasons. Looking back in time at World War II, the United States and much of the developed world were mired in a steep economic downturn known as the Great Depression.
Although social programs enacted by the US government under Franklin D. Roosevelt helped initially, these programs could only do so much to help the United States out of the depression.
But when the country went into World War II, the economy shifted to a wartime one where production became supercharged and men and women were both contributing to the war effort in never seen before ways.
