Building Collapse No Criminal Charges in Deadly Davenport Apartment Building Collapse 2025-02-05
No criminal charges will be filed in the deadly collapse of a Davenport apartment building that killed three residents and injured another in May 2023. Scott County Attorney Kelly Cunningham said the investigation found nothing that constituted a crime, and the case should be left to civil court. The building's owner, Andrew Wold, was reportedly proactive in trying to address the issues that led to the collapse.

Jeremiah Johnson, 22, of Sparta, has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after a high-speed chase and crash that killed one passenger and injured two others. The crash occurred after a deputy attempted to stop Johnson's vehicle, which was traveling over 100 mph and weaving through traffic on Interstate 90/94. The vehicle crashed while exiting the highway, ejecting two of the four occupants.
