  Higher Education The idea of a dream school is highly subjective, and many students dream about different schools than their peers in regard to where they'd like to attend. Recent studies put the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the most desired school, in general, for students. But MIT is one of the most difficult schools to get into and one of the most expensive colleges to attend with tuition and all other expenses amounting to upwards of $80,000 per year. Even though MIT remains very desirable, along with other top schools in the country, many American families do cite affordability as one of the top factors in determining what school to go to. Most of the schools that students put towards the top of their wish lists are difficult to get into and are usually quite expensive to attend.
