Tobacco Shop Robbed Twice in Des Moines 2024-09-02

The owner of Iowa Clouds tobacco shop in Des Moines believes someone has robbed the store twice in as many days. The first robbery at 3725 Hubbell Ave. happened Sunday morning. The second robbery happened Monday morning. Police said the suspect did not display a weapon, but he was armed when he took cash and fled. The store's owner believes it's the same suspect in both robberies. No arrests have been made yet.

Des Moines Man Sentenced for Using Fake ID to Buy SUV 2024-09-02

Randall N. Finley, a 45-year-old Des Moines man, has been sentenced to three years of supervised probation for using a fake ID to buy a 2024 Honda CRV from a North Iowa car dealer for $42,090. Law enforcement says Finley used an Iowa driver's license with his photo and someone else's information to apply for credit and make the purchase.

Two Arrested in Des Moines Drive-By Shooting 2024-09-02

Des Moines police responded to a drive-by shooting early Monday morning on the 1500 block of Stewart Street. The home was struck several times by gunfire, and officers found multiple shell casings at the scene. Witness information helped officers locate the suspect vehicle and make two arrests. Caleb P., 19, was charged with reckless use of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and assault on a peace officer. Abel A., 19, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, and operating a non-registered vehicle. No injuries were reported.
