Des Moines Man Charged in Two Convenience Store Robberies 2024-11-22

A Des Moines man named Thomas Frommelt, 50, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and interference with official acts. He was arrested late Thursday night after allegedly robbing a Git N Go convenience store in the city's Easter Lake neighborhood. Frommelt reportedly threatened the clerk with a knife, took cigarettes and cash, and then fled on foot. Officers located him nearby and he ran from them, but was eventually tracked down and taken into custody after a K9 unit was called in to assist. Frommelt was treated for a K9 bite before being taken to the Polk County Jail. Investigators say he admitted to the robbery as well as another one that occurred on November 11th.
