Respected Iowa Pollster Ann Selzer Announces Retirement After Inaccurate 2024 Presidential Poll 2024-11-29Ann Selzer, the pollster behind the respected Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll, has announced her retirement just weeks after the survey incorrectly showed Vice President Kamala Harris with a 3 percentage point lead over Donald Trump in Iowa. The poll's results were a 'big miss,' as Trump ultimately defeated Harris 56 to 43 per cent in the state. Selzer acknowledged that the poll failed to accurately capture the outcome of the presidential election and said she is 'humbled' by the unexpected findings. While the Iowa Poll will continue to operate, Selzer is retiring and moving on to other projects. She defended her integrity and commitment to truth and accuracy, stating that her leaving was planned well in advance and not due to this year's misfire. The Commission found that Culver violated aspects of Florida's judicial canon and his conduct towards one defendant was so unacceptable that he could have been a candidate for removal from the bench. However, the Commission said it had received 'overwhelming' mitigating evidence in Culver's defense, including testimony from several figures from the 18th Circuit Court about his character. Culver told the Commission his behavior arose from the stress of being his ailing father's primary caregiver and he has since taken anger management courses and apologized.
