Vandalism Des Moines Man Charged for Assaulting Protesters, Damaging Signs 2025-08-20 A Des Moines man, Bradley Jay Nall, 68, is facing charges of assault and fifth-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly damaged signs and assaulted a woman during a protest on the 56th Street bridge over Interstate 235 on Aug. 12. According to police, Nall stopped his vehicle on the bridge, climbed over the railing, and aggressively approached the group of protesters with the intent to tear down their political signs. Nall is accused of pushing a sign a woman was holding, striking her in the head, and then tearing down and damaging other signs. The incident was recorded on video and shared with investigators. Murder Des Moines Man Sentenced to Life for Beating Death of Girlfriend 2025-08-20 Derrick A. Earnest, 61, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2024 beating death of his girlfriend, Holly Snowgren, in Des Moines. Security camera footage showed Earnest arguing with Snowgren before punching, kicking, and beating her with a wooden board. Snowgren suffered broken ribs, a stab wound, and other injuries, and was pronounced dead the next morning. In victim impact statements, Snowgren's family members described her as a 'beautiful soul' who believed in seeing the good in people, even Earnest, her 'abuser.'
