Shooting at Dane County Gas Station Leaves One Hospitalized 2024-10-28

One person was taken to the hospital on Saturday after being shot multiple times at a Dane County, Wisconsin gas station. The Dane County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired at the BP Gas Station located at 2763 CTH N. Upon arrival, deputies found a victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures before the victim was transported to a local hospital. Deputies also located multiple shell casings in the area and are working to identify potential suspects. Authorities say there is no threat to the public at this time.

Man Beaten by Group of Juveniles at Madison Mall 2024-10-27

A man was beaten by a group of juveniles at East Towne Mall in Madison after offering them food he had just purchased. The incident occurred on Saturday around 9 p.m. when the man saw the group of juveniles who mentioned they were hungry, and he gave them the fries he had just bought. The group then demanded all of the man's food and threatened him. When the man tried to call the police, his phone was knocked out of his hand and broken. He was then beaten by the group of seven juveniles and suffered facial lacerations and other minor injuries. Three juveniles were arrested for their role in the incident.

Iowa Attorney General Finds Police Shooting Justified, Other Legal Updates 2024-10-27

The Iowa Attorney General's Office concluded in a report that the Sept. 16 fatal shooting of J. Green by three Des Moines police officers was legally justified. The investigation found that Green shot one officer in the arm and another in the head, and the officers returned fire, killing Green. Both officers have since been discharged from the hospital. Additionally, the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation is offering mini-grants for Iowa educators to incorporate agriculture into their lessons, and the ACLU of Iowa has filed an amicus brief in a case arguing that Iowa courts cannot bill low-income Iowans for the cost of their court-appointed defense attorney when criminal charges have been dismissed.
