Drugs and Stolen Property Found in York County Traffic Stop 2024-10-01Two men, Tyler Dolph, 42, of North Carolina, and Torrence Patton, 34, of Colorado, were arrested in York County, Nebraska, after a traffic stop. The sheriff's office found two firearms, 3 ounces of methamphetamine, small amounts of fentanyl and Adderall, and several stolen items in their vehicle. The stolen items were found to be shoplifted from a business in the Des Moines, Iowa area. The men were charged with possession of more than 28 grams of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and numerous other charges. Iowa Nurse Allowed to Keep License Despite Criminal Offenses 2024-09-30An Iowa nurse, Taylor James Gill, 31, of Bondurant, will be allowed to retain her license to practice despite multiple criminal offenses related to her use of alcohol. The Iowa Board of Nursing has placed her license on probation for one year, requiring her to enroll in a chemical screening program and comply with any recommendations for treatment. Gill has a history of arrests and convictions for public intoxication, interference with officials acts, open-container violations, drunken driving, and assaulting a healthcare worker. Iowa DOT Rejects Most Local Traffic Cameras 2024-09-30The Iowa Department of Transportation has approved only 11 fixed automated traffic enforcement cameras in five Iowa cities, while denying 128 requests from 28 municipalities. The approved locations are in Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines, Marshalltown, and Le Claire. The DOT cited reasons such as the cameras not being the 'least restrictive means' or 'not necessary' for the denials. The decision means the vast majority of traffic cameras in the state will be turned off on Tuesday. |
