Selzer said she is mystified about the allegations that she intentionally set up to deliver this response, when she has never done that before. She mused whether her poll itself may have shifted the state for Trump, as it could have energized and activated Republican voters who thought they would likely coast to victory.

The Waverly Police Department added a new police officer on Monday, Dec. 23, as Mayor Mark Anderson conducted the swearing in of the 17th sworn officer to the city police roster. C. Werkman, a former special education teacher for more than 10 years, took the oath of office in front of his family and other city officials. He will now head to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for training before returning to Waverly to begin patrol duties.

A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital in critical condition Christmas Day following a shooting incident in Des Moines, Iowa. The incident occurred in the 2900 block of E. 40th Court in the Sheridan Gardens Neighborhood. Authorities said preliminary investigation is pointing toward the incident coming as a result of a domestic-related situation. There is no ongoing danger according to authorities as officers have secured the area.
