The judge decided to give the maximum possible prison term, but because C. was a minor at the time of Pippins' death, the mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years does not apply. C. must also pay $150,000 in restitution to Pippins' family. Pippins was going into his sophomore year at Hoover High School at the time of his death and is survived by his parents and five siblings. |
