Drug Trafficking Des Moines Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Fentanyl Trafficking, Firearm Charge 2025-07-22 A 34-year-old Des Moines man named Sean Michael O'Boyle has been sentenced to over 18 years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. On September 30, 2024, O'Boyle fled from police in his car, hitting a police vehicle and a tree, before running away on foot and throwing a stolen, loaded firearm into a yard. Police found 315 grams of fentanyl in his abandoned car. Crime Des Moines Man Charged After Ramming Squad Car, Crashing Into Hotel 2025-07-21 A 45-year-old Des Moines man named Shontay Escada Salenciaga has been charged with felony eluding and two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Police say he rammed a squad car and fled from officers before crashing into a hotel in downtown Des Moines. No officers or pedestrians were reported injured. Sex Trafficking Des Moines Man Indicted for Sex Trafficking Iowa Women 2025-07-21 A 49-year-old Des Moines man named Marlin Santana Thomas Sr. has been indicted on eight federal charges for sex trafficking four adult Iowa women by force, fraud and coercion for prostitution in Illinois and North Dakota between 2009 and 2015.
