Shooting One person injured after being shot in the leg 2025-07-23 One person was hurt after an overnight shooting in Des Moines. Des Moines police say the shooting happened in the 1100 block of Davis Avenue, not far from Gray's Lake Park. A man was shot in the leg but is expected to recover. Police say there are no suspects in the shooting and no arrests have been made. Domestic Violence Police search for suspect in violent domestic attack 2025-07-23 Des Moines Police are asking for the public's help finding R., a man accused in a violent domestic attack. They say he assaulted a woman and tortured her cat to death. R. has active warrants for his arrest on charges of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, Domestic Abuse Strangulation and Animal Torture. Police believe he may have left Iowa but ask anyone with information about him to call 9-1-1 or submit a tip online to Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa. Home Invasion Two charged in violent Ankeny home invasion 2025-07-23 Two people, G. and K., are charged with multiple felonies following a home invasion in Ankeny, Iowa. On July 1, police responded to a reported burglary at a home and found an elderly victim who had suffered serious injuries consistent with being beaten and strangled. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released. Police also found that several items were stolen from the home and the victim's person, including the victim's wallet, a gun, personal documents and 'a few thousand' in cash.
