A judge has granted a request to reduce the bond for a Des Moines man accused of attempted murder. According to new court documents, 18-year-old Demonie Smith's bond is now $125,000, down from $500,000. Smith is accused of shooting Shanice Perry in her vehicle last month, which he says happened after he got into a fight with his girlfriend, who is also Perry's sister. Smith's arraignment is scheduled for May 1.
Burglary Fitchburg Man Arrested for Apartment Burglaries in Monona 2025-04-08
A Fitchburg man was arrested in connection to a series of burglaries at an apartment complex in Monona earlier this year. Erick R. Thompson-Feirn, 36, was arrested during the execution of a search warrant at his rural Fitchburg home. Police recovered dozens of items from Thompson-Feirn's home that are connected to cases in Monona and elsewhere in Dane County. Officers also found illegal drugs during the search. Thompson-Feirn was booked for felony drug possession and bail jumping, and burglary charges are pending.
Assault Man Found Seriously Injured in Madison, Police Investigating 2025-04-08
The Madison Police Department is investigating after a 33-year-old man was found with serious injuries on Monday night. The victim was found unconscious and bleeding on Northridge Terrace before being taken to the hospital. Officers were called to the area after a report of battery. The victim suffered head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, and police found blood in a nearby parking lot. The Violent Crime Unit is leading the investigation, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information or security camera footage to contact the Madison Area Crime Stoppers.
