Former South Dakota AG Fights Proposed Suspension of Iowa Law License 2024-12-31

The former attorney general of South Dakota is objecting to a proposed six-month suspension of his Iowa law license due to his involvement in a 2020 traffic fatality. Ravnsborg was impeached and removed from office in 2022 after he struck and killed a pedestrian while driving in 2020. The South Dakota Supreme Court suspended his law license for six months, and Iowa is considering a similar suspension. Ravnsborg argues that an identical suspension in Iowa would be too severe, citing his Iowa roots and military service. The Iowa Supreme Court has yet to issue a decision, but a hearing is scheduled for Jan. 22.
